Definition

CPC is a carbon material added to molten iron during steel production to supplement carbon content.

Role

Impurity Removal: A flux removes impurities (e.g. sulfur, phosphorus, etc.) from the metal, improving its quality. Metal with fewer impurities has higher strength and is made more durable.

Chemical composition control: The use of additives allows for the control of the chemical composition of metals. This helps to adjust the properties of the metal as desired.

Slag Formation: The flux contributes to the formation of slag (sludge) in the refining process. Slag helps to separate metals and impurities, and acts as a protective layer on the surface of molten metals.

Cooling and Solidification: The foundry helps to control the cooling and solidification process of the metal to form the optimal metal structure.
